Sergeant First Class Carrol D. “Papa” Baker. Born in Sheridan, Arkansas on August 24, 1930 and passed away on July 4, 2019 in El Dorado, Arkansas while on his final vacation. He has been a Florida resident since 1950. He served his country in various branches of the military for 34 years. He loved to fish and was an avid hunter. His favorite thing to do was hop in the car and head out west. He loved working in his garden, he loved his family and all his friends. Carrol was preceded in death by two daughters: Carolyn Gail Baker and Belinda Darlene Garner also by his brother Carl Baker. He leaves behind his wife of 69 years: Phoebe; daughter: Cindy; grandchildren: Jason, Jody, and Christina; great- grandchildren: Mitchell, Cole, and Amber; great-great grandchild: Paris; sister: Marilyn Sue Warrnix (Phenis) and her family of Leola, Arkansas. He also lives behind a countless number of friends since he seemingly never met a stranger. A memorial service to celebrate Carrol’s life will be at First Baptist Church of Umatilla on Monday, July 22nd, 2019 at 11:00 AM. Military Honors will be at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at 1:00 PM.
