Carlton Hoover Griggs, 84, of Ocklawaha, passed away Wednesday, December 26, 2012. Carl's family was One of the 1st Five pioneering families of Marion County in 1828. Born in Moss Bluff, Florida, he was a lifelong resident of Central Florida. He was a Carpet Contractor, was a member of the VFW, Woodmen of the World and was a former volunteer firefighter for Eustis and Marion County. Carl served his country in the Marine Corp. He is survived by his 2 sons, Bob Griggs, Houston, TX, Phillip Griggs, Ocklawaha, FL; 3 daughters, Kay Wolf, Inverness, FL, Sherry Kniffin, Sorrento, FL, Wendy Germeroth, Crystal River, FL; sister, Julia Mae Raeborn, Ocala, FL; 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Viewing will be held at Harden/Pauli Funeral Home, Eustis on Saturday, December 29, 2012 from 3-5 pm. A memorial service will be held at Moss Bluff Cemetery on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 1:00 PM.
