Carla Dale Gnann-Thompson

Carla Dale Gnann-Thompson, 64, of Eustis, passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2019. Born in Eustis, Florida, she was a life-long resident of Lake County, FL and a 1973 graduate of Eustis High School. Carla was an Educator and was a Eustis City Commissioner. A graduate of Tift College in Forsyth, GA, Carla taught 32 years in Lake County Schools at Umatilla Middle School, North Lake Education Center, Eustis Middle School and Eustis High School. Carla also served as the Dean of Students at LifeStream Academy. Carla created and managed the “Jobs in Municipal Government” summer youth programs for the City of Eustis in partnership with the Volusia, Lake, Flagler Private Industry Council. Carla was the Key Club Sponsor at Eustis High School and loved introducing her students to community service. Carla had a passion for service and for educating students with nontraditional learning styles. Carla was recognized by the Lake Eustis Area Chamber of Commerce with the 2016 Community Service Award for Education. Carla was a Christian and loved to share her love of the Lord. Carla is survived by her Husband, B. E. Thompson of Eustis, FL, Brothers, Gene Gnann of Cassia, FL, Frankie Gnann of Paisley, FL, Jerry Gnann of Pine Lakes, FL and Marty Gnann of Cassia, FL; Sister, Darlene Volkert of Eustis, FL; and by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends, and her beloved dogs, Tebow and Gator. Services will be held at LifePointe Church, Eustis on Sunday, March 17, 2019 at 3:00 PM. The family will receive friends at the Harden/Pauli Funeral Home Chapel, Eustis on Saturday, March 16, 2019 from 5:00 PM till 7:00 PM. Memorial donations may be made to Amazing Race for Charity, 632 S. Bay St, Eustis, FL 32726. Carla volunteered for this annual event which supports more than a dozen local charities.
