Carl Raymond Walker, 87, passed away September 9, 2022 at Brookdale Tavares in Tavares, Florida. He was born March 2, 1935 the only child of Lee and Florence Walker in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania. He was a 1953 graduate of Bellefonte High School where he played trombone in the band.
Mr. Walker served in the US Army Reserves from 1957 to 1963 and did his basic training at Ft. Knox, Kentucky. He worked for A&P Food Stores from 1952 until they closed in 1982. He held nearly every position from stock boy to store manager and worked in stores in Bellefonte, Huntingdon, Newport, New Bloomfield, Mt. Union, and Burnham, Pennsylvania. He also served as Borough President in Alexandria, Pennsylvania where he lived for many years.
He was predeceased by his parents mentioned above, his first wife, Lois I. Walker, and an infant daughter. Those surviving include his children, Steven C. (Gwen) of Leesburg, Florida, Michael D. (Kim) of New Ellenton, Florida, Carol W. Stoops (Alex) of Latta, South Carolina, and David J. (Margaret) of Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, eight grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
A private internment of ashes will take place at Centre County Memorial Park in State College, Pennsylvania. The Harden-Pauli Funeral Home in Eustis, Florida is serving the family. Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
