Carl Trenton Poling, Jr., 64, of Tavares, went to be with his Lord & Savior on Monday, February 25, 2013. Carl was born on February 24, 1949 in Bradenton, Florida where he lived until attending Hargrave Military Academy. Upon graduation from Hargrave, Carl attended the University of Florida and has been a die-hard Gators fan ever since. He then spent several years in the Orlando, Florida area where he began his almost forty-year career as an accountant & financial planner. Carl later made his home in Tavares, Florida with his wife, Linda. He enjoyed exploring the beauty of nature through camping & hiking from the Ocala National Forest up through the Appalachian Trail, traveling & sightseeing across the country with this family, especially his grandchildren, with whom he shared his love and knowledge of our nation's history, and Carl spent the last several years building a log cabin on his family's property in West Virginia. Carl was known for taking the road-less-traveled and often times got wonderfully lost. He will be most remembered for his easy-going manner, spirit of generosity and the ability to make a friend of everyone he met. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Poling, Tavares, FL; 2 sons, Scot Hayes (Alecia), Wake Forest, NC, Bryan Hayes (Staci), Enterprise, AL; daughter, Heather Layfield, (Kirk) Minneola, FL; sister, Caroline Steward (Earl), Bradenton, FL; brother, Delbert “Billy" Poling, Felda, FL; 8 grandchildren; 2 nieces; 3 nephews and countless friends he has made throughout his lifetime. Services will be held at Harden/Pauli Funeral Home Chapel, Eustis on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 11:00AM. The family will receive friends at the Harden/Pauli Funeral Home Chapel, Eustis on Friday evening from 6-8 PM. Interment will follow at Tavares Cemetery.
