Bruce Douglas "B.D." Williams, 67, of Lake Mary, FL, passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2021. Born in Miami, Florida, he moved to the Central Florida area with his family in 1963. Bruce was a Lieutenant with Lake Mary Fire Rescue prior to his retirement from a 46-year long career of firefighting and EMS services across two fire departments. In recognition of his career, Bruce received a letter of appreciation from both President Donald Trump and Governor Ron DeSantis as he was one of the longest career firefighters in this country’s history.
Bruce also received numerous awards and recognitions from civil organizations throughout Central Florida for his charity work with associations such as the NFL Players Association, Missing Children’s Center, and Hugz from Bugz. Bruce also developed a program at Lake Mary Fire Department to give children fighting cancer the chance to be a “Firefighter for a Day”.
Bruce was a member of the Masonic Lodge as a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Corvette Club. He played softball for 30 years, pitching no hitters and semi pro football for 5 years with the Orlando Guardians. Bruce was a Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed spending time with his wife and daughters, working out, working in the yard, golfing, offshore fishing, golden retrievers, and chocolate chip cookies.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Williams of Sanford, FL; 3 daughters, Christina Williams of Miami, FL, Kathryn Williams of Miami, FL, Melissa Williams, Miami, FL, brother, David Williams of Enterprise, FL; and sister, Elaine Becker of Orlando, FL. Services will be held at Northland Church in Longwood on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at 3:00 PM. The family will receive friends at Harden Pauli Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 from 5:00 PM till 8:00 PM. Memorial donations may be made to the Bruce Douglas Williams Firefighter Scholarship Fund his daughters are establishing in his memory. (
