Artie M. Kirkland Pugh, 89, of Eustis, passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2018. Born in Paisley, Florida, she was a life long resident of Lake County. She was foremost a dedicated mother and wife, later a Realtor. She and Buford attended Grand Island Baptist Church in their later years but were married and served for years in the First Baptist Church on Orange Ave. Artie started teaching Sunday school at age 16, working also with the GA’s for over 10 years. Her commitment to the Lord guided her life and she served her family and friends selflessly, never idle in the task. Artie found gardening brought her closer to God’s heart, and as Helen Steiner Rice wrote her favorite poem, A Sure Way To A Happy Day, ”For it’s by completing what God gives us to do that we find contentment and happiness too.”
She is predeceased by her Parents, Paul and Louise Kirkland, and by Brothers, Paul and Raymond Kirkland. She is survived by her Husband, Buford H. Pugh of Eustis, FL; Daughters, Dr. Lovetta Pugh Wilson of Scottsburg, VA and Kaye Pugh Orr of Alexandria, VA; Sister, Marjorie K. Nichols of Eustis, FL; and 3 Grandchildren and 6 Great-Grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, Eustis on Friday, December 21, 2018 at 2:30 PM.
