Aret E. 'Sid' Trask, 89, of Eustis, passed away Monday, August 24, 2015. Born in Hamden, Ohio, and grew up in a large family on a dairy farm. After graduating from Chardon High School he joined the Navy where he was trained as a Radio Operator; after the Navy he used his G.I Bill tuition to attend the University of Miami and also took flying lessons. He became a Purser ( Flight Attendant) for Eastern Airlines. His first flying job was as a Co-Pilot for Northeast Airlines out of Boston, Mass. For a short time when he was laid-off from Northeast he worked as a Policeman in Miami, FL and also as a crop duster pilot in Texas for 3 months, until he was hired by National Airlines where he flew DC-10's. He continued working for National Airlines even when it was eventually bought by PanAm. He retired as a Captain from PanAm with a total of 34 years of flying. Sid enjoyed boating and water skiing and flying his own small airplanes when he lived in South Miami in the 1960's; after moving to Eustis he has enjoyed many years of the antique car hobby, owning Model A's, a 1967 Mercedes 250SL, a 1929 Ford Phaeton 4 door convertible, a 1931 Deluxe Ford pick-up Flower Delivery truck, and a couple of Jaguar convertibles. Sid was a co-founder of the Chardon/ Geauga County Day in Eustis, FL, a long-standing member of the Eustis Elks Lodge, and was very involved in the Eustis community. Sid was predeceased by his parents, Wina and Cora (Brannon) Trask; sisters, Margaret Ogden, Alta Trask and Opal Richmond; brothers, Maurice, Glenn, Wayne, Dana, Arlin and Bud Trask. He is survived by a daughter, Paula Trask-Heskett (Frank) of Eustis, FL and a sister, Carol Brcak (Joseph) of Montville, OH; 12 Nieces and Nephews and 15 Great Nieces and Nephews. A memorial service will be held at Harden/Pauli Funeral Home Chapel, Eustis on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 1:00 PM. Online Guestbook available at
