Dr. Albert George Eckian

Albert George Eckian, M.D., 79, of Eustis, passed away Friday, June 17, 2022. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, to the late George Albert and Marion Eckian, he moved to Eustis in the early 1970's after graduating from the Medical School at New York University. Dr. Eckian practiced emergency medicine at Waterman Memorial Hospital in Eustis and later had a family practice in Eustis. Dr. Eckian then established a pharmaceutical consulting firm in Winter Park. He returned to Eustis in the late 1990’s and served the residents of Eustis on the City Commission and was Mayor of Eustis in 2015. He was a longtime member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Eustis. Dr. Eckian also devoted his time in service to the Lake County Museum of Art and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Lake and Sumter County. Dr. Eckian is survived by his son, Philip Eckian (Alexandra Sabater), Dallas, TX; daughter, the Reverend Deirdre Eckian, Winter Park, FL; brother, Leonard Eckian, Fremont, NH; three grandchildren, Ruby Marion Eckian, Eli Michael Eckian, Matthew Eckian Leslie. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Judith Eckian. Services will be held at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Eustis, on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 10:00 AM. He will be laid to rest next to his mother at Greenwood Cemetery, Eustis. Flowers are accepted or memorial donations may be made to the Boys and Girls Club—NE Lake County Branch.
